In modern clinics, the removal of warts is a necessary procedure. Its essence is to extract abnormal cells from healthy tissues. There are many ways to remove warts, and the choice depends on several factors at a time: tumor size, location, number of growths, doctors and patients' personal preferences.
Today, the following methods of removing warts are the most popular:
- laser;
- Radio waves;
- Removal with liquid nitrogen;
- Electrocoagulation
- Traditional surgery.
The use of one or the other method of removing warts (cryoablation, electrocoagulation, laser irradiation, surgical resection) depends on the size of the formation and the personal preference of the patient.
Except for surgical methods, all methods do not require special training. Only before the wart is removed with a scalpel, a blood test is needed to check for clotting, infection, etc.
Laser wart removal
Laser removal is the most popular method to eliminate skin growth. Its advantages are fast speed, no scars, minimal risk of infection and other complications. This method is suitable for removing small warts, although it is also suitable for large tumors. For example, when you need to remove warts on your face or other open areas of the body, it is difficult to do without a laser. Healthy tissues are not affected by the laser damage of warts. There are no incisions in the skin and the method is completely non-contact.
The laser beam gently burns the blood vessels around the wart. The bacteria died during the operation. The recovery time does not exceed one week. Does not include swelling, bleeding, infection and other complications. Warts remaining after tissue removal (if necessary) can be sent for histological examination because they have not been completely destroyed.
The procedure is simple and anesthesia can be used. Place the patient on the sofa and aim the laser head at the wart. After that, a beam of light is emitted to evaporate part of the tumor tissue in an instant. After a few seconds of exposure, the process ends, but if the wart is very large, it must be removed in several steps. This is the main disadvantage-if a series of procedures are required, the patient will spend a lot of personal time and pay for several sessions.
Removal of warts by radio waves
This is the most gentle technique and is also best for small warts. High-frequency waves allow you to remove pathological tissues and make them evaporate, which makes this method similar to laser destruction. The traces left on the skin are practically invisible, so radio waves can be used even on the face.
In addition, the advantages of this method include:
- Painless
- Fast recovery
- Minimal complications and side effects;
- Eliminate bacteria during surgery;
- No complicated care required;
- Possibility of histological analysis.
The downside is that for extremely large warts, radio wave surgery is not appropriate.
Use liquid nitrogen to remove warts
Freeze forming is a contact method to eliminate warts. Its advantages are low price, fast process speed and good effect. This method is suitable for the removal of any part of the body, but it is rarely used when facing the face-it may leave small marks. On the negative side: I sometimes feel pain during and after the operation.
The liquid nitrogen removal process is simple. The patient is placed or sitting on a sofa in the operating room, and the exposed area is treated with antibacterial agents. The doctor dips a cotton swab or special instrument into liquid nitrogen. The temperature is below -195. 75°C. After that, the doctor took the stick to the wart and touched it. The tissue freezes quickly and collapses-the cells rupture due to the expansion of the frozen water. Remove tissue residues and treat wounds.
Electrocoagulation of warts
This method is also suitable for most areas of the body, including the face. Before the operation, local anesthesia must be used and the skin treated with antiseptics. Removal with an electrocoagulator-an electrocoagulator is a special device that heats tissues with high-frequency current. The loop of the device touches the tumor and gently excises it while cauterizing the surrounding blood vessels and killing bacteria. A thin crust will form after exposure to a circuit temperature of 800°C, which will fall off within a few days, leaving small pink spots.
The advantage of this procedure is the short time required, the ability to remove multiple warts at a time (if close to each other), and larger warts can be removed. During and after the operation, bleeding and infection are excluded. When the small warts were removed, there were no traces.
The disadvantage is that it cannot be used for warts. They are very rough and located in a dense skin layer. In this case, stricter treatment methods will be used.
Surgical removal of warts
Nowadays, this is the most effective way to remove warts, because it can ensure that all pathological tissues are eliminated. However, it is only used in extreme cases where the wart is very large or recurring.
The 5 stages of operation:
- Treat the area with disinfectant;
- Neat scalpel incision around the lesion;
- Use tweezers to remove the body from the surrounding healthy tissue;
- Treat surgical wounds;
- Sewing and dressing.
The infrequent use of this method is due to residual scars after stitching. In addition, extensive wounds after surgery can lead to the risk of infection, inflammation, edema, and bleeding. However, for large old warts, they can only be eliminated in this way. If needed urgently, it can even be surgically removed on the face.
The dermatologist and surgeon will help you choose the method of wart removal during the initial consultation. The most common options are:
- For small warts on the face and other parts of the body-laser, electrocoagulation, low temperature destructive, radio wave removal;
- For people with a particularly large face and body, plantar warts-surgery, laser, radio waves;
- Not unique for multiple-laser; radio wave, liquid nitrogen removal;
- For small soles-laser.
Sometimes, the choice also depends on the patient's general health, age and even the type of activity (for certain occupations, the presence of scars on the face or neck is unacceptable). In the latter case, only expensive laser removal is possible. In other cases, a separate method is used.
